Quake shakes Shahab Ahari Library

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake which trembled Eastern Azerbaijan Province on August 11, 2012 inflicted a lot on damage on Sheik Shahabodin Ahari Library.
Speaking with IBNA, Hojat Shalchi, head of the public libraries administration of the shaken province, said the building’s pillars are unchanged but some of its walls have collapsed.
Located in Ahar are three public libraries: Sheik Shahabodin Ahari, Horand and Ayatollah Najafi Ahari libraries. The three libraries were seriously damaged by the earthquake, he added.
He went on to say that no one was killed in the tremble in the city of Ahar but some were injured; however, unfortunately many died in its surrounding villages and towns.
He refused to give any numbers about the losses in the library given the fact that the crisis management committee formed after the quake in the city is engaged with the lot of human damages.
Iran's Health Minister Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi said on Monday that the death toll from the two powerful earthquakes in the Eastern Azarbaijan Province has risen to 306, and 3,037 people were also injured.
