Choosing the bests of last year is very difficult for a festival which means to observe independence, courage and accuracy as its ultimate ambition.
Then some explanations were given about the quality and quantity of this festival as follows:” what adds to the dignity of this process, more than the numerous works published last year and the variety of literary forms utilized in them, was indeed, to focus on the literary domestic theoretical basses and identifying the real needs of Iranian audience and literature field; since the literary festivals can insist on the accuracy of discovering and introducing of selected works only when they could achieve the literary and artistic interpretation of religious ideals as well as the real mission of art and save it from interfering of the wrong artistic principles and the lowbrow literary tastes.
The statement of this round of festival points out also to the reasons based on which the best works have been selected in each section as it is read in part: “in the story section, three finalist books were ,in fact, the first works of their authors. In this part, the Golden Pen Festival prides oneself because, from among all of the well-known authors whose works were published in 2010, the festival succeeded to introduce significant works to the narrative field, which were written by unknown writers.
It continues:” The finalists of the 8th Golden Pen Festival are indeed a gate to the great reality conceived in the Post-Revolution Literature. It seems that after three decades of effort and generating writhers from the body of Revolution and the Holy Defense, and also witnessing of so many downfalls and germinations in this field, the Revolution Literature is to recognize a new generation of authors. This wide-ranging evolution will figure a new age for the Post-Revolution fiction in the coming years. Hence, it is necessary for sharp eyes, curious- questioner minds and macro policy makers in fiction arena, having deep insight to the current situation of literature and suitable planning for the future, make a hurry to welcome the new era.”
Relating to research section the statement is read: "In the literature research section the expertise reviews conducted in the arbitration procedure, resulted in promising works. The need of producing creative works in the field of narrative literature in the past three decades caused a dangerous silence in the field of literary theory and theoretical and fundamental studies. The negligence and lag of academic researches about the contemporary post-revolution literature and the roots of Literary Secularism caused majority of literary researches to be just the direct translation of the West theories or the adoption of them on the specific works belonged to quasi -liberal literary genre. The Islamic theology and philosophy-based approaches are amongst the neglected areas of effort from which the breath of innovation and effort of some thinkers is smelled. "
